WASTE

The Village of Lang has moved to curbside waste collection using Loraas Disposal services. Please note that the collection service is for bagged household waste only. Please remember that all garbage must be in sealed bags and the bags must be placed in a the Loraas garbage receptacle with a closed lid. The receptacle will need to be placed out for collection by 7am on Fridays.

Household Waste DOES NOT Include the Following:

  • Hazardous wastes
  • Recyclables for which the Village has provided a recycle bin
  • Bulk refuse (large items including stumps, branches, carpet, discarded furniture or equipment etc.)
  • Garden and Lawn clippings
  • Liquids of any kind
  • Animals or Animal parts

 

It is the homeowner’s responsibility to take the above mentioned items to the landfill/disposal site and to dispose of them in the designated areas.  The landfill/disposal site will be open from 10 am- noon on Saturdays (weather permitting).  Please be advised that people who fail to place items in the designated areas or places items outside the perimeter of the fence will be subject to a fine if $250.00 for the first offence and $500.00 for the second offence.  In addition, offences of this nature will be reported to Saskatchewan Environment for prosecution under Provincial Regulations.

Landfill Hours: Saturday-10:00 am to 12:00 noon

The gate attendant will collect your fees and direct you to the appropriate dumping areas. Please have payment with you and give the “total” amount prior to dumping. Refusal to pay the attendant in advance will result in loss of landfill access and privileges.

Waste Collection Site Schedule Of Fees

Effective Nov 12, 2015 the new disposal rates for the landfill are as follows:

Appliances…………..….$15.00/item
Asphalt Shingles…….$100.00 (1/2 ton or less & truck box trailers)
Asphalt Shingles…….$200.00(greater than 1/2 ton & truck box trailers)
Drywall/Const. Material.….$50.00 (1/2 ton or less & truck box trailers)
Drywall/Const. Material…..$100.00(greater than 1/2 ton)

IMPORTANT: Consideration is being given to stop accepting the above noted items, shingles and construction materials, due to the cost of maintaining the landfill. Please obtain your own disposal bin if you are undertaking a major renovation or construction project that will result in a large amount of garbage.

1/2 ton or less & truck box/utility trailers………………$10.00/load
3/4 ton trucks..………………………………………………………$15.00/load
1 ton & end dump trailers………………………………………$25.00/load
1 to 3 ton trucks …………………………………………….……$100.00/load

The Loraas bin WILL ACCEPT: furniture, mattresses, non-burnable wood, light industrial waste, painted wood, and glass.

The Loraas bin DOES NOT ACCEPT: hazardous materials, toxic waste, paint cans, oil and filters, tires of any kind, chemical containers, batteries, propane bottles or propane tanks.

“The above items also may not be deposited at this landfill site nor at or near the sewage lagoon.”

Notice to Residents Recycle Bin

Residents of Lang, please take notice. Our well screens are plugging up due to items being flushed into the sewer system. Please refrain from disposing of the following items down your toilets: Jay clothes, Chlorox wipes, Swiffer dusters, feminine products, baby wipes, and any diapers.

Loraas Disposal has contacted the Administrator asking that a reminder be sent to everyone using the Single Stream Recycling to comply with the requirements posted on the blue bins.

Please do not bag materials. The accepted items are listed below:

Paper and Cardboard (MUST BE FLATTENED):
cardboard boxes, newsprint, paper, junk mail, magazines, phone books, catalogues, toilet paper cores, tissue boxes, milk cartons, cereal boxes, paper bags, unsoiled pizza boxes.

Plastics (MUST BE CLEAN):
Plastic containers, milk jugs, shrink wrap, plastic bags, laundry soap containers, plastic hangers, laundry baskets, shampoo and body wash bottles, pill bottles, yogurt containers, salad dressing containers, disposable coffee cup lids.

Tin and Aluminum (MUST BE CLEAN):
Pop cans, pie tins, soup and vegetable cans, other food cans with or without labels.

ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED:
Glass, Styrofoam, ceramics, light bulbs, soiled cardboard, hazardous chemical containers, scrap metal, car parts, plastic toys, motor oil containers, nails, screws, wire, and aerosol spray cans. There is a $500 fee for this infraction.
